According to J.D. Power and Associates, sales of hybrids doubled in 2004 from 2003. A total of 85,699 hybrids were sold in this year.
Furthermore JD Power believes that similar growth rates will be achieved for a number of years to come. Toyota's Prius accounted for 63 per cent of the hybrid market, which translates into sales of 53,991 units.
This is great news. Consumers are responding to a strong product and have shown their interest in efficient transportation.
Automakers, take note.
