Honolulu Considers Tax Break
From KNON 2:
A Honolulu city councilmember has an idea he hopes will get more drivers to buy gas-saving hybrid vehicles.
"We are proposing a tax break for individuals who purchase a hybrid vehicle next year that you won't have to pay the city vehicle tax if you purchase a hybrid vehicle," says Charles Djou, Honolulu City Council.
Hybrid vehicles typically cost more, so Councilmember Djou hopes a tax holiday on them, along with tax breaks being offered by the federal government, will push more people to by one.
